Quick Practical Solutions and Hints on How to Reduce Stress

It is important to understand how stress can affect you or a person's relationship and to find solutions to reduce your stress.

  1. Do Stress Management Techiques when you are stressed! Stress is healthy, in increasing adrenalin but only up to a point.
  2. Stress can be meaningful. Ask yourself, what message the stress is trying to give you and then take notice of the message!
  3. Notice if there are any 'payoff's about being stressed and also what doesn't work well for you when stressed.
  4. Ask yourself, what stops you dealing with and managing the stress.
  5. Be Aware of what stresses you before you get too stressed! Lack of balance in your life, not eating or sleeping well,
  6. Do not ignore Symptoms of stress. They can include, impatience, frustration, feeling overwhelmed, worrying, lack of motivation, tiredness etc

Quick techniques to help reduce stress ;

  • Take time out,
  • breathe,
  • set appropriate boundaries around work and family commitments,
  • rest, relax,
  • exercise or gently walk 3/ times a week for 10 mins, to 30mins,
  • get out into nature or by the ocean,
  • talk to someone, get support.
